About Lisa
Lisa Bentley is a children’s book illustrator and author based in the UK, known for creating picture books that appeal to children and grown-ups alike. Her love of visual storytelling started in early childhood and has been growing ever since.

An early love of stories and drawing
As a young reader, Lisa was always drawn to books with exciting covers and beautiful illustrations. She spent countless hours making her own artwork, and famously decided that her dream job was simply “colouring in”.
Studying to become a children’s book illustrator
Lisa studied Illustration with Animation at Loughborough University, where she honed her craft. Since graduating she has illustrated and authored multiple published children’s books, bringing a distinctive style and real emotional depth to every project.
Creative work, teaching and family life
Beyond illustration, Lisa has worked as a primary school teacher and once ran a cake business making wonderfully realistic designs. These days she balances family life with two young children alongside her creative pursuits — writing, drawing and baking.
Life in Derby
Lisa lives in Derby with her partner Dan and their two children. She loves tea, cake and time with her family — and is decidedly less keen on pairing socks and the slugs that sneak into the kitchen.
